Malgorzata Szumowska stars on the November cover of “Vogue Polska”
Małgorzata Szumowska, a film director, a duo of artists called Young Emperors, and Michał Korkosz, a food blogger and book author, are just a few of the personalities presented in the new issue of Vogue Polska. The November issue will be available as of Thursday, October 26.
“I cannot be just another cog in a machine, I want to carry out my own projects,” says Małgorzata Szumowska in the cover shoot interview with Wojciech Engelking. It was the reason why she gave up directing for one of the popular streaming platforms: “It was, you know, a moment of huge relief, both for me and — as it turned out later — for the other party, as they felt I was too independent.I returned to Poland and decided to make this movie”.She is referring to “Woman Of”, which had its premiere during this year’s Venice Film Festival. This movie produced by Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert tells a story of Aniela Wesoły, a transgender woman. “It is a poetic story of a person and a poetic story of Poland.‘Woman Of’ is obviously not just a poetic narrative, but it has also been made with a certain purpose: to show the situation of the Polish transgender community, which is truly dire,” adds the director.
