5 things you need to know about the latest issue of “Vogue Polska”

“Moving into the season of spring/summer 2025, the theme of a mirror has been gaining significant prominence on the runways. The designs by such fashion houses as Jil Sander, Prada, Fendi, or Versace, are truly and literally shining. Glass surface has also been a source of inspiration for this issue of the magazine,” writes Ina Lekiewicz Levy, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Polska, in her editorial. What else will the readers find in the January/February issue of Vogue Polska?

“Fashion is often referred to as a mirror reflecting our personalities, aspirations, and habits. Through fashion, we can interpret the nuances of subsequent eras or decades, as well as examine individuals and entire communities. We might want to look at those reflections from a certain perspective, as none of them is truly accurate or complete. Fashion tends to present a slightly skewed fragment of a broader and more complex phenomenon,” writes Kamila Wagner in the introduction to her column titled “En Vogue”, where she presents the latest trends. Why has fashion always been fond of mirrors? Where can we find mirror themes today? Which trends will take the lead in winter 2025?

Long before the whole world started taking selfies, she had been the first to take her own photos in a mirror. She studies the phenomenon of optical illusion, taking photos through multiple glass panels to achieve even more surprising effects. She changed the art of photography for good, elevating the process of naturalist representation of the existing reality to the level of conceptual art, where the photographer has power over the photograph, and not vice versa. She was compared to Man Ray. “Today, taking photos of our own reflections, we are not even aware who invented this frivolous habit,” writes Angelika Kucińska about Florence Henri in her article titled “This side of the mirror”
