The issue has premieres as part of Salone del Mobile in Milan

Exhibition of the Polish design in Milan, the 18th-century palace of Marcin Rusak, interiors in Warsaw, Poznan and Podhale. In the new issue of Vogue Polska Living, we take a look at the Polish design from a number of different angles.

“Poland, more likely to be perceived as a manufacturing centre supplying the global furniture industry rather than a recognised market player, is now regaining its creative independence,” writes Hanna Rydlewska in her editorial, pointing to this historic circle. Flourishing of the local design displayed at the international exhibition in Paris one hundred years ago directly corresponds to the contemporary design, which is indicated by the Milan exhibition titled “Romantic brutalism” curated by Federica Sala, an Italian design expert.

The cover photo presenting the interior of the 18th-century palace in Świdno conveys a symbolic message. Marcin Rusak bought it when it was in ruins to transform it into the seat of his atelier. He is particularly interested in plants, which he cultivates, examines with a help from scientists, and “freezes” in his artistic creations. Architecture becomes the field of an astonishing experiment — the historic organism devoured by the forces of nature becomes a reverse of and a setting for his works. “The longer I stay within these walls, the less I want to change this place. Still, I have to make sure the palace survives, so that I can make my dreams related to it come true,” says Marcin Rusak interviewed by Maria Fredro-Smoleńska, revealing his ambitious plans of founding a centre of science and design.
