How opera influences fashion
Opera is a total form of art, combining music, theatre, architecture, and fashion. “In this issue of Vogue Polska, we take a closer look at opera in view of the premiere of a show titled ‘The Best City in the World: an Opera about Warsaw’ to take place on September 19 in Teatr Wielki — Polish National Opera,” writes Ina Lekiewicz Levy, the editor-in-chief, in her editorial.
On this occasion, we created a unique photo shoot, for which stylist Chiara Janczarek combined the costumes from Teatr Wielki — Polish National Opera with designs by a number of fashion houses for fall/winter 2025/2026. We also talk about the city built anew after the war with the show’s creators: Jarosław Trybuś, the author of the show’s concept, director Barbara Wiśniewska, scriptwriter Marcin Cecko, scenographer Natalia Kitamikado, costume designer Emil Wysocki, singers Joanna Freszel and Agata Zubel, actor and narrator Filip Kosior, as well as librettist Beniamin Bukowski and musician Cezary Duchnowski, who explained how to tell a story about Warsaw in the language of the opera.
