The new issue of „Vogue Polska” is out now
“This issue of Vogue Polska is devoted to moments of pause. To work done despite the haste, to forms that refuse to be obvious, to communities without which no change can be durable,” writes Ina Lekiewicz-Levy in her editorial for the January-February edition. Find out what we have prepared for you.
In the January-February issue of Vogue Polska, Piotr Zachara reconstructs the myth of the Antwerp Six. “The journalist reminds us that one of the major revolutions in fashion emerged beyond the mainstream, without any background and with no institutional support. Belgian designers had no common program or uniform aesthetics. What they did have was community and joint determination. This story proves that a new language is hardly ever born in comfortable environment,” writes Ina Lekiewicz-Levy. One of the most famous photo of the creators taken in 1987 is a reference to a widely known photo of the Beatles. Just like the band from Liverpool, Ann Demeulemeester, Dirk Van Saene, Marina Yee, Dries Van Noten, Walter Van Beirendonck, and Dirk Bikkembergs walk across the street in single file. The Antwerp Six are still unaware of the earthquake they are about to cause and the importance of their work as a point of reference for all subsequent generations of designers seeking new directions in fashion.
In the new issue of Vogue Polska we check how the fashion industry is handling the exercise of mindfulness. In the world of fashion, time is a precondition of quality and luxury. Kamila Wagner had an opportunity to learn about it when visiting L’Isle-d’Espagnac, where the Hermès fashion house opened its 24th leather goods workshop. “During our visit, we are given a piece of leather, an awl, linen thread, a piece of beeswax, two needles and a handful of tips. Our task or rather a sophisticated punishment for the toxic capitalism reflected by our questions is to use this set to make a superstrong saddle stitch, with which Birkin and Kelly handbags are manually sewn […]. It is a lesson of patience and humility. I try to focus and give myself some time to gain practice. If the venue of the most luxurious and coveted brand in the world is so calm and peaceful, mindful slowness might as well be the key to success, which I have been searching in such a frenzy and panic, with no deeper reflection,” writes the head of our magazine department, who also takes a look at the creative work of Alessandro Michele and Alaïa from the perspective of time.
